Chelsea Papineau
ContactChelsea Papineau is the lead digital content specialist for CTV News Northern Ontario and is based in Sudbury.
She creates, curates and publishes content for both the CTVNewsNorthernOntario.ca website and social media.
Chelsea was instrumental in creating the Northern Ontario Fire Updates page during the Ontario wildfires in 2018 and the Northeastern Ontario Riding Profiles page during the last two federal elections in 2019 and 2021 and provincial elections in 2018 and 2022, with in-depth information on candidates running in the region.
She has covered stories from the social media response to the Humboldt Broncos crash to the tragic New Year's Day crash that killed three children from the Greater Sudbury area in 2020, as well as continuing coverage through the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on northeastern ontario.
Chelsea is also is a big fan of stories about wildlife.
Having performed a couple of years on the CTV Lions Children's Christmas Telethon and spending time behind the camera, she hosted the social media segment on sceen in the annual broadcast for five years. In 2023, she stepped back behind the camera as a floor director at the All Nations Church phone panel.
Chelsea grew up in Portland, Oregon and studied scriptwriting at Portland Community College as well as acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts West in Los Angeles, California.
She has called Sudbury, Ont., home since 2003.
In addition to her love for storytelling, she has extensive experience in business administration and project management.
Chelsea has been teaching the Youth Drama program with Sudbury Theatre Centre on Saturday mornings since 2005.
Being involved in the community and giving back is extremely important to her, so she does a lot of volunteer and charity work. She is currently the co-chair of Ridgecrest Accessible Playground and the applications manager and former podcast producer for the Book Love Foundation.
She enjoys reading and is always looking for book recommendations.
Chelsea is fluent in English and understands some French.
