Driver airlifted to hospital after Manitoulin Island motorcycle crash
A motorcycle driver who sustained serious injuries in a crash on Manitoulin Island on Thursday evening was airlifted to Sudbury hospital.
Police were called to a single-vehicle crash on Cardwell Street in Assiginack Township around 5 p.m. Nov. 14, Ontario Provincial Police said in a news release Friday morning.
The motorcycle driver was first taken by paramedics to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries but was then transferred to Health Sciences North Bay Air Ornge.
Cardwell Street and CloverValley Road between Manitowaning and Wiiwemkoong Unceded Territory were closed overnight and reopened early Friday morning.
An investigation into the crash is continuing with the assistance of the OPP's technical collision investigation unit.
