Police say a suspect has been arrested in a case that saw 19 fraudulent credit card purchases worth $1,000 last month in Cochrane, Ont.

The James Bay Ontario Provincial Police said the 43-year-old suspect was arrested Dec. 13.

The fraud took place Nov. 1-2, when the card was used to make purchases at eight different businesses in Cochrane.

The arrest was made when OPP responded to a call for service on Hwy. 11 and located one person.

That person "initially provided a false name to police," but it quickly emerged they were the primary suspect in the case.

Charges include obstructing police, possession of property obtained by crime and 19 counts of using a credit card to commit an offence.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cochrane on Jan. 28.
