A 78-year-old resident from White River has died in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 17 in the Espanola area shortly after midnight Friday.
Emergency crews were called to the scene in Sables-Spanish Rivers Township, Manitoulin Ontario Provincial Police said in a news release.
"Upon arrival, police learned of a head on collision involving a vehicle and commercial motor vehicle," OPP said.
The man who was driving the passenger vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene while no other injuries were reported, OPP Const. Jessica Gilbertson told CTV News in an email.
"The highway was closed for approximately 9 hours, which has now been reopened," OPP said around 10 a.m.

"The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team."
No charges are pending in the crash, Gilbertson said.
