School buses cancelled across the north

School buses across the north are cancelled Wednesday due to poor road conditions and snow squall warnings.

All school buses with the Sudbury Student Services ConsortiumAlgoma & Huron-Superior Transportation Services, Nipissing-Parry Sound Student Transportation Services are cancelled.

Most of the buses with North East Tri-Board Student Transportation are cancelled, except for Kirkland Lake, Englehart and New Liskeard.

"School buses are cancelled in Timmins, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, and Matheson," the North East Tri-Board said Wednesday morning.

"Due to the road conditions, the snow squall warning and in the interest of safety, all school related transportation services for English Catholic, English public, French Catholic and French public schools, operating in the districts of Sudbury, Espanola, Massey and Manitoulin are cancelled today," the Sudbury consortium said Wednesday morning.

"This includes all areas such as St-Charles, Noëlville, Monetville, Markstay, Hagar, Warren, Wahnapitae, Coniston, Killarney, Whitefish, Whitefish River First Nations, Manitoulin Island, Onaping, Chelmsford, Capreol, Valley East, Garson, Chelmsford and Azilda."

All schools are open, but no transportation is available. 

Students who are brought to school must have a way home in the afternoon.

This marks the first 'snow day' for Sudbury area students.
