Winter travel advisory in effect for Sudbury, Sault and North Bay

Share

Environment Canada has issued a winter weather travel advisory that will be in effect until Monday night.

Affected are communities in and around Greater Sudbury, Sault Ste. Marie and North Bay.

"Locally heavy snowfall with accumulations near 10 cm by Monday night," the advisory said.

Drivers should expect poor visibility at times in heavy snow. The heaviest snow is expected Monday morning and afternoon, continuing through Monday night.

"A low-pressure system will bring heavy snowfall beginning tonight and intensifying tomorrow morning into the afternoon hours," Environment Canada said.

"Snowfall amounts could be enhanced for areas closer to the North Channel and Georgian Bay. There is a risk of freezing drizzle tomorrow night in the wake of the system."

Motorists should expect hazardous winter driving conditions and adjust travel plans accordingly.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.
