Two men stabbed during group altercation in downtown Sudbury, police say
Sudbury police are investigating after two men required medical attention for stab wounds following an altercation with a group in the downtown area.
Officers were called to the area of Elgin and Nelson streets, east of the Bridge of Nations, just before 3 a.m. Monday about an assault, Sudbury police said in a news release.

The two men, ages 37 and 43, were found at the scene and taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
"Based on the initial investigation, it is believed that an altercation took place between the two men and a group of unidentified parties resulting in the two men being stabbed," Sudbury police said.
"The individuals involved fled the area prior to police being contacted."

Police said the incident is believed to be a targeted attack.
It is unclear where the stabbings occured.
"At this time, officers are in the process of speaking with witnesses and gathering video surveillance footage to determine the exact location of the altercation," police spokesperson Kaitlyn Dunn told CTVNewsNorthernOntario.ca in an email.
