Police are looking for an older man who tried to convince an 11-year-old to get into his vehicle Friday in Sturgeon Falls, Ont.

The incident took place after school between 3:15 and 3:30 on the north side of Cache Bay Road, near the hydroelectric dam.

"A black sedan stopped and approached the young person," Ontario Provincial Police said in a news release.

"The stranger engaged in a conversation with the young person, asking them to enter the vehicle to which they declined. The stranger then left in an eastbound direction, with no harm to the young person."

The vehicle was a black sedan, without tinted windows. The suspect was a bald man in his 60s or 70s, between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-10, clean-shaven with a medium build and wearing a blue winter coat.

"The OPP reminds all members of the public to be aware of their personal safety and that of children," police said.

"Please take time to discuss with your children in detail safety tips regarding the dangers of strangers.

Police are asking for the public's help in identifying the individual and vehicle involved in the incident.
