Tim Hortons has launched its annual fundraiser that has many grinning from ear to ear.

The Holiday Smile Cookie campaign focuses on the sales of white chocolate sugar cookies with red and green sprinkles and a white icing smile.

Proceeds go to local charities and community groups. The recipient is different depending on the community.

Tims locations across the country raised $9.8 million during the week-long campaign last year.

At Tim Hortons locations in Greater Sudbury, funds will be split between the Tim Hortons Foundation Camps and the Finlandia SISU Foundation.

"We always like to give back to the community. Tim Hortons is known for that," said restaurant owner Marian MacKenzie.

"Finlandia is building a new residence and it's very exciting for us to get on board with that and help them out as much as possible. The seniors are a big part of our community, and we want to help them."

"Our campaign is a $2 million campaign. We’re right about the halfway mark, $1 million raised to date," said Finlandia executive director David Munch.

"We want to make sure seniors are well cared for and living in a proper home, and this will help them do that."

MacKenzie said Smile cookies are always popular. In fact, Monday morning before the launch, staff at one location made 1,000 cookies and they were gobbled up by customers prior to the launch.

"A smile goes a long way and our community," she said.

Each Holiday Smile Cookie is $1.50, and they’ll only be available until Nov. 24.
