WestJet is returning to Sudbury with a plan to offer direct flights to Calgary beginning in June.

The seasonal service will offer direct flights twice a week until October.

"The Greater Sudbury Airport is proud to welcome back and announce an exciting new seasonal service with WestJet, bringing the first-ever direct flight from Sudbury to Calgary," the airport said in a news release Monday.

WestJet last served the Greater Sudbury Airport in 2018 offering direct service to Toronto Pearson.

"WestJet’s new direct service to Calgary is a milestone for our community," Sudbury airport CEO Giovanna Verrilli said in the release.

"This historic route strengthens ties between northeastern Ontario and Alberta and Western Canada, providing residents and businesses with greater connectivity and new opportunities to explore and grow."

Tickets are now available for purchase. Tickets and additional information are available at www.westjet.com.

"This is more than a flight—it’s a bridge between two regions of Canada with so much to offer," added Verrilli.

"We’re proud to play a part in fostering growth and connection for our community and beyond."

Greater Sudbury Airport, operated by the Sudbury Airport Community Development Corporation, is a not-for-profit, non-share capital corporation.

The Greater Sudbury Airport is one of Northern Ontario's busiest and is currently served by Air Canada, Bearskin Airlines, and Porter Airlines, with new seasonal service by WestJet launching in June 2025.
