SUDBURY --
In the early morning hours of Sept. 26, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers from the James Bay detachment and Cochrane Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a call at a residence on Highway 11, west of Hearst, Ont. where they found a 16-year-old unresponsive. The teen later died in hospital.
The news comes just hours after public health officials in Sudbury reported increased numbers of suspected overdoses within their district.
The James Bay Detachments Crime Unit investigation continues in conjunction with the Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB). The Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OCC-OFPS) is also assisting in the investigation.
A post-mortem examination has been planned for the upcoming week.
