Officials have not yet determined the cause of the blaze, however, police said foul play is not suspected.

On Dec. 28 at about noon, first responders including Ontario Provincial Police (OPP,) the Jogues Fire Department and Timmins Ambulance were called to a fire at a residence on Hamann Road in Jogues, south of Hearst.

Various OPP teams and the Office of the Fire Marshal responded to investigate the fire.

Human remains were found at the scene on Dec. 30 and the body was brought to Toronto for a post-mortem examination on Jan. 2, said OPP in a news release.

The Ontario coroner's office is now assisting with the investigation.

“The cause and origin of the fire is still under investigation, but foul play is not suspected,” said police.
