North Bay police have two men in custody that are suspects in last week’s murder in the Pinewood area of the city.
Police began looking for clues right after the shooting death of 45-year-old Abraham Kamerman.
"It's like putting a puzzle together, and slowly the pieces come together. In this case, the puzzle came together rather quickly." said North Bay Police Chief Shawn Devine.
The two suspects sought by police were 25-year-old Taylor Briscoe of North Bay, who was arrested Friday, and 26-year-old Ryan Abraham.
"It is alleged that Ryan Abraham was carrying the firearm. Ryan Abraham then got into an altercation with the victim outside of the apartment door then proceeded to discharge several rounds from the gun." said detective sergeant Jeff Warner.
Police say they knew Abraham had ties to London, and a Canada-wide warrant was put in place.
"My understanding is he has family connections there and was living in North Bay, and has lived in North Bay for a period of time." said Devine.
On Saturday in London, a taxi driver was assaulted and the vehicle was stolen. That's when local police picked him up.
Chief Devin says he believes last week's murder was drug-related.
"I would say the information that we have received, the incident was related to drugs, yes. To my knowledge, we're looking at one firearm related to this homicide." said Devine.
It's the first murder of the year for North Bay, and the first one in at least 20 years involving a gun.
Both men, charged with second-degree murder, made court appearances Monday, although police here say Abraham remains in custody in London and made his appearance via video link.
