Eric Taschner is a Video Journalist with CTV News Northern Ontario in North Bay
Originally from Woodstock, Ontario, he is excited to call North Bay his home.
He discovered his passion for storytelling during his high school studies. He previously worked at CJDC-TV in Dawson Creek, B.C. and for his hometown station 104.7 Heart FM during college as a Reporter/Newscaster. Eric also interned at CTV News in London, Ontario for two months during school.
He graduated from the Broadcast Journalism/Television News program at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario.
Eric is an award winning reporter. He won the Dana Lewis Frontline Award for crime reporting and the Digital Journalist Award in 2016.
He also picked up two prestigious RTDNF scholarships in 2017 for a three-part series he worked on. They were the RTDNF Scholarship and the George Clark Scholarship.
Eric has several stories he will always remember. He covered the return to North Bay for one of the last surviving Dionne Quintuplets in 2018, a story which aired nationally on CTV. He also covered a story about a school shooting threat and a large wildfire right outside of his Dawson Creek home.
He believes everyone has a story to tell and enjoys covering city hall and crime stories.
You might see Eric kicking a soccer ball on the field in his Lionel Messi soccer jersey in his free time. Besides his passion for soccer, Eric enjoys watching sports on TV and catching up with friends, family and his girlfriend.
