SUDBURY -- Sault Area Hospital says a healthcare worker at the facility has received negative COVID-19 test results after becoming a person under investigation for possible exposure last weekend.
Hospital officials say a limited number of staff, physicians and patients were in contact with worker and have been notified and taking all necessary precautions. They say there is no additional risk to the broader community at this time.
As a result, additional measures are being implemented.
Visitor restrictions
- If you are unwell, live with someone who is not well or have travelled outside of Canada, you should not visit patients
- Visitors should always wash or sanitize their hands before and after their visit
- Visiting hours are restricted to 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and visits are to be kept short
- All visitors will be screened at the main entrance and anyone with influenza-related symptoms will be turned away. Parking tokens will be given to people turned away.
- Patients with COVID-19 symptoms are asked not to bring visitors
- Exceptions will be made for end-of-life and trauma situations
Reduction of Services
- Ambulatory clinics and non-essential operative procedures have been cancelled and will be rescheduled. Patients will be contacted by the hospital.
- Urgent procedures and diagnostic imaging will continue
