North Bay suspect faces 24 charges, including kidnapping, uttering threats
A 25-year-old man from North Bay who was arrested in Huntsville last week is charged with two dozen offences, including kidnapping, uttering threats and dangerous driving.
The 24-year-old woman who was with him has also been charged.
The incident began Sept. 20 when two victims were at a bar in North Bay.
"While in the bar, the victims met with the two accused," North Bay police said in a news release Tuesday.
"After the two victims left the bar, they received threatening phone calls from the accused. The two accused stated they would be attending the victims’ residence."
At that point, police were contacted and officers tried to stop the vehicle, but the accused fled.
"Police pursued the vehicle to the Muskoka area and, with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police’s emergency response team and canine unit, arrested the two accused in the area of Huntsville," police said.
Once he was in custody, the man was also charged in connection with a Sept. 4 incident, when he was seen driving "in a dangerous manner" near McNamara Street.
"Later that same day, the accused was involved in an altercation with a male victim in the area of Kinsmen Beach and attempted to strike the victim with his vehicle," police said.
"The accused then exited the vehicle, assaulted and threatened the victim. The accused then fled the scene."
The man has been charged with 24 offences, including weapons offences, kidnapping, fleeing police and four counts each of uttering threats, dangerous driving and failing to comply with probation orders.

The woman is charged with one count each of fleeing police and dangerous driving.
The two accused were held in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
"The North Bay Police Service would like to thank the Ontario Provincial Police for their continued partnership," the release said.
"By working together, we help make all communities safer."
