NORTH BAY -- Rotating one-day strikes by the Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario hit the Near North District School Board in North Bay again Wednesday, cancelling JK to Grade 8 classes.
It’ll be the same thing on Thursday as ETFO launches a province-wide strike.
The union says it will continue with more strike action next week, with another one-day, province-wide strike is planned for Feb. 11.
Teachers on the picket line on Airport Road in North Bay say there is a sense of frustration and they want to get back to the table and be negotiating.
"We’re hoping, you know, every day that something happens and that people are back at the table and bargaining," said kindergarten teacher Tamara Hamilton. "We are excited to get back to our regular routines with our students and our parents and our families, and all our extra-curricular things that we haven’t been able to do and we want to be doing. We are very excited for this to be over."
Hamilton said she believes the teachers have had a lot of support from other unions, parents of students, and students themselves who have been joining them on the picket line.
