The Doug Ford government will be changing the slogan on Ontario licence plates.
There are hints about the new slogan for commercial vehicles, but what's coming for passenger vehicle plates, isn't known yet.
The slogan "Yours to discover" has been on Ontario licence plates since the early 80's and could be gone soon.
Ford’s office confirms to CTV News that both commercial and passenger vehicle licence plates will be getting a re-brand and a new slogan. The government is considering changing the black and white commercial vehicle and truck plate slogan to say "Ontario: Open for business," a Doug Ford favourite.
The commercial plate slogan will also fall in line with last fall's introduction of new roadside signage across Ontario.
Changes to the blue and white personal plates are coming and will carry a different motto.
But what do taxpayers think?
This is what people in North Bay told CTV News:
"I think it should stay the way it was. It wasn't bothering anybody at the beginning. Why change it now?"
"I think it might be a waste of money, but I don't think it's nothing to get too upset over."
"I’ve got a grade nine daughter and she's protesting on the fourth about the cuts to schools, so they're going to change and use the pointless money for a slogan that doesn't need to be changed?"
Some people hope the passenger vehicle plates' re-design will include a salute to the part of the province where you live.
"It would be nice if they put Niagara Falls or something on the plate from each part of Ontario on the license plate."
Before the “Yours to Discover” slogan, there was "Ontario: Keep it beautiful” in the 1970's, and prior to that, there was no motto on them at all.
