Hwy. 66 reopens after been closed for poor weather conditions

Highway 66 near Kirkland Lake, Ont., has reopened after a weather-related closure.

Ontario Provincial Police orginally announced the closure of part of the highway on X, shortly after 2 a.m.

"Please avoid the area," said police.

The roadway was closed between Highway 11 in Kenogami and Highway 65 in Matachewan due to poor weather conditions.

Freezing rain and drizzle alerts and advisories have been issued for much of northeastern Ontario.

According to the Ontario 511 Traveller Information Service, the highway reopened at about 4:45 p.m.
