Drivers from all areas in Greater Sudbury filled the room at the Tom Davies Arena in Lively to voice their concerns, and share their stories of close calls and expensive repairs due to the pothole problem.

Councillor Vagnini wants the city to provide better compensation for pothole damaged vehicles and is working on an emergency motion that would help drivers cover the costs.

“So, if you average them out to $2,000, and we say there's 1,000 claims, that’s only $2-million. Now, I say ‘that’s only $2-million,’ but $2-million is a lot of money. But when you put it in perspective, for some of the projects that we have going on, like the Elgin Street Greenway, which is $8-million, the KED (Kingsway Entertainment District), The Junction, and all of these projects, $2-million dollars is not a lot of money for people who can’t afford to get their vehicles fixed.” said Vagnini.

The councillor says he'll use the stories from local drivers when he brings the motion forward to council. He says he's also hearing word of a community driven class action lawsuit in the works concerning the pothole problem.
