Anthony Rota returns home after G7 conference
A northern Ontario MP is back home from Germany after attending a speaker’s conference of the G7 member states.
Nipissing-Timkskaming MP and Speaker of the House of Commons, Anthony Rota was in Berlin, Germany to attend the 19th Conference of the Speakers.
Rota met with delegates and counterparts of the G7 including Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the US House of Representatives.
This year's summit focused on Russia’s war on Ukraine and the role of bolstering democracy worldwide. Rota and his fellow speakers welcomed Ukrainian speaker, Ruslan Stefanchuk at the conference.
“The bulk of the discussions and the conversations took place around Ukraine as well as educating electors and trying to get them involved so democracies work better,” Rota said.
Rota said conferences like these are important to attend in order to continue to look at ways of improving the lives of Canadians.
