Police officials in Hearst are asking for public assistance in the search for a man who approached a local youth.

In a media release issued on Friday, the Ontario Provincial Police said a young person was approached by a man while retrieving a baseball at the treelined portion of baseball field on Brisson Boulevard in Hearst on July 30.

Police did not release any details about the interaction; only saying officers were called in regarding a ‘suspicious male’.

The man is described as having a dark complexion, late 20's/early 30's, wearing all black clothing including a black toque and blue Nike shoes.

The OPP is requesting anyone with information that can assist police to call 1-888-310-1122. Should people wish to remain anonymous, they can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or submit a secure web-tip at www.tipsubmit.com. People may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.
