SUDBURY --
The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit has confirmed two individuals who were repatriated from a cruise ship by the Canadian government, have tested positive for COVID-19.
In a news release, health officials say on March 10 the two individuals, a man and woman both in their 70's, were transported to the Canadian Forces Base in Trenton where they later developed symptoms and were tested while in quarantine.
Health officials say the two individuals were held in quarantine for a total of 10 days and released for 14-day self-isolation. They are now recovering at home.
“It is expected that there will be more individuals who test positive for COVID-19 within the Health Unit’s district. The public plays an important role in helping to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Physical distancing (two meters) will help to slow the spread of COVID-19 and save lives” said Dr. Jim Chirico, Medical Officer of Health, in a statement.
This is a developing story…More to come.
