Snowmobile season is well under way and sledders are hitting the trails for their favourite form of winter fun.
But some people are not sticking to the trails.
Provincial police in South Porcupine are investigating after a collision between a truck and a snowmobile Wednesday night.
OPP say the crash took place just after 7 pm on Highway 101 west of Timmins.
The driver of the snowmobile was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
OPP say this is the third collision involving snow machines since November 1st and they happened off the officially-sanctioned trails.
Police encourage snowmobilers to stick to Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs’ trails, as they are the safest to ride on.
"We just want to make sure that snowmobiles take care and they remain on all OFSC trails. That is the safest spot for them to be. This way it keeps them out of traffic and harm's way.” said OPP Constable Michelle Simard.
