Sudbury police provide informal opportunity to speak with officers

This is Crime Prevention Week and on Wednesday afternoon, Greater Sudbury Police officers were on hand a local coffee shop.

The informal event called ‘Coffee With a Cop’ was held Starbucks in the city’s South End.

Officers said the atmosphere provides a more relaxed environment for people to speak to police, ask questions, learn about crime prevention and various options of reporting it.

“Talking about online reporting specifically that there is ways to report crime online instead of having to call in,” said Const. Mickey Teed.

“Whether that be a break-and-enter, a theft, a sexual assault, if it’s more convenient for the victim to report it online rather than having to call it in.”

Police said they hold the event at various locations throughout the year.
