Sudbury's first ever National Basketball League of Canada team officially signed its first two players and has also partnered up with Cambrian College.

Marcus Lewis and Kadeem Green officially signed their names on the dotted line and are now the first two players on the Sudbury Five basketball team.

Lewis played basketball at Eastern Kentucky University and was the NCAA Dunk Champion in 2014.

Green is the first Canadian player to be a part of the Sudbury Five. This will be his third year playing professional basketball

"I want to be one of the guys that is going to be a staple in the community. The Sudbury Five has a lot of meaning to it, so we want to build on that culture." said Lewis.

"I'm really excited to be a part of something new, to help this organization grow. I can play offense and defence. I am not just an offensive-minded player. I like to take pride in defence." said Green.

The head coach of the Sudbury Five, Logan Stutz, says Lewis and Green are two players the team can build around.

"I knew Marcus. I played with him a couple years ago and he's just the kind of guy you want on your team. And Kadeem, I knew I needed some good Canadian content, so I did some research. I knew he played overseas. I talked to a couple agents and I knew it was just a good fit.” said Stutz.

And a new partnership has been created between the Sudbury Five and Cambrian College.

Dario Zulich is the basketball team’s owner.

"I called the President of the college and I said, ‘can we partner?’ And now, we are a true partner, not just in the facility, but also hopefully in the programming. And not just with the Sudbury Five, but with the whole SWSE." said Zulich.

"It's great. I mean, it's a big facility, nice floor, well lit, it's just what we need to get the job done." said Stutz.

The team’s practices will take place at Cambrian College.

Training camp will start at the beginning of November and the games will follow shortly after that at the Sudbury Arena.
