SUDBURY -- After the Ministry of Education announced schools can stagger the start of the school year, Algoma District School Board has released its new back-to-school schedule.
Monday night, ADSB Chair Jennifer Sarlo provided the schedule to CTV News.
Junior Kindergarten (JK) students will be divided into four groups at each school with a new group being added each day. Schools will let families know which group their child is in.
Tuesday, Sept. 8
Elementary – JK Group 1 to Grade 2
Secondary – Grade 7, if at a high school, and Grade 9 only
Wednesday, Sept. 9
Elementary – JK Groups 1 & 2 to Grade 5
Secondary – Grade 8, if at a high school and Grade 10 only
Thursday, Sept. 10
Elementary – JK Groups 1-3 to Grade 8
Secondary – Grade 7 and 8 if at a high school and Grade 11 only
Friday, Sept. 11
Elementary – JK Groups 1-4 to Grade 8
Secondary – Grade 7 and 8 if at a high school and Grade 12 only
Monday, Sept. 14
All students
Remote learning officially begins, those students will be contacted during the first week to confirm courses, schedule and technology
The school board said this plan allows time and space for staff to establish health and safety routines, movement within the school, locker distribution and orientation.
Schools within the Algoma District with small enrolment or special education classes may choose to alter the schedule and will inform parents.
