Skead Road in Sudbury has reopened after a Friday night crash
Around 9:20 p.m. on Friday, Sudbury police said a single motor vehicle collision on Skead Road had closed the roadway at Nickel Rim South Mine Road.
The road reopened just before 4 a.m., according to police.
“Police are investigating a single motor vehicle collision on Skead Road,” the Greater Sudbury Police Service said on social media.
“Fire and EMS are on scene. The roads (sic) are closed.”
Greater Sudbury deputy fire chief Nathan Melin told CTVNewsNorthernOntario.ca, in a short message, that fire services attended following reports of a single vehicle in a ditch on Skead Road.
“Single occupant of the vehicle was turned over to EMS,” he said.
“Extent of the injuries is unknown.”
No word on what caused the crash.
Police have not released any updates on the condition of the injured individual or said if there are any charges pending.
Many in the Skead community took to social media to complain that the guard rails on the roadway had not been repaired after an accident earlier this year.

Several people said they feel that the Aug. 16 accident may have been prevented if the safety mechanisms on the roadway had been repaired in a more timely manner.
Ward 7 city councillor Natalie Labbee commented “I understand approx. 29 poles were affected,” adding she had made some calls to staff and was waiting for more information.
