Body of wanted man discovered in wooded area in Sudbury
Sudbury police say they have discovered a second body in the wooded area west of McNeil Boulevard.
Police have identified the deceased as 47-year-old Rick Jones, who was wanted by police.
This report comes just days after the discovery of 40-year-old Carol Fournier in the same area.
The Greater Sudbury Police Service announced Saturday morning on X, formerly Twitter, that they were conducting an evidence search in the area related to the discovery of Fournier.
Investigators said foul play is not suspected – but did not provide any indications as to the potential cause of death.
A post-mortem will be conducted through the Coroner’s Office on Nov. 14 to determine the cause of death.
No information was provided by police on when Jones may have died or how long his body has been in the wooded area where the search was carried out.
“In consultation with Carol’s family, we can confirm that prior to her being murdered, she was in a relationship with Rick Jones,” police said in a news release.
It goes on to say Jones had been wanted on outstanding arrest warrants for intimate partner violence incidents involving Carol.
