A Sault Ste. Marie woman was arrested Friday following an earlier morning disturbance.

Sault police advised in a news release that the incident occurred at about 1:30 a.m. in the 100 block of Willowdale Street.

Officers were dispatched to the area in response to a 911 call.

“Through an investigation (police) discovered the accused had threatened to assault the victim, who is known to them,” said the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service in a news release.

“Officers also learned the accused had confronted the victim a few days prior and had been told by officers not to communicate with the victim.”

As a result, the 44-year-old woman was charged with assault and criminal harassment.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
