Sault students go ‘Beyond the Game’ in Esports tournament
Organizers of an Esports tournament at St. Mary's College in Sault Ste. Marie are hoping it will show students how they might go about turning their gaming interest into a career.
Beyond the Game is an initiative launched by the Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board, and it involves several community partners.
"The goal of our tournament really was to give exposure to our SMC Esports Club, and also to bring our elementary students in as a chance to collaborate, have some fun, visit some of the great vendors that we have here and have an opportunity to see what Esports can do for students," said Daniela Veltri, a guidance counsellor at St. Mary's.
St. Mary's Esports club meets twice a week during the lunch break. The club is preparing for competition against other schools in the spring.
