Police in Sault Ste. Marie say the road has been reopened Thursday afternoon at 1:45 pm.

An investigation into the cuase of the crash is ongoing.

An early morning collision in Sault Ste. Marie between a motorcycle and a pickup truck has sent one person to hospital with serious injuries.

It happened Thursday around 9:30 am on Peoples Road at Penno Road.

The driver of the motorcycle was rushed to hospital where he is currently in critical care.

Police are not releasing a lot of information about the driver, but says he is not a young driver. 

The two occupants of the pickup truck were unharmed in the incident.

"At this point in the investigation, it seems like the motorcyclist made a left turn from Penno Road onto Peoples and the fault is yet to be determined." said Sergeant Nicole Magnan, of Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

Police have closed the road to traffice as the investigation continues and people are asked to avoid the area.
