A 37-year-old North Bay man who is on probation is facing two dozen new charges after a convenience store robbery earlier this month.

Officers were called to the Circle K on Fisher Street around 10:20 a.m. Jan. 12, North Bay Police Service said in a news release Tuesday morning.

Despite arriving within one minute, the suspect fled on foot toward the downtown area before they got there.

The suspect entered the store, told the clerk he had weapons and to not approach him before going behind the counter and stealing an undisclosed quantity of cigarettes, placing them in a bag, police said.

Investigators identified the accused after watching security camera video footage.

"During the investigation, it was found that the accused had also been involved in numerous thefts at other local establishments in North Bay," police said.

He was arrested Jan. 22 and held in custody pending a bail hearing.

The accused is charged with robbery, seven counts of theft under $5,000, five counts of using a disguise with intent, eight counts of failing to comply with probation and three counts of failing to comply with a release order.
