Police seize $1M in drugs in northwestern Ont. bust
Suspects from Alberta and B.C. are in custody after Ontario Provincial Police made a massive drug bust at a rental unit near Kenora, Ont.
Police seized huge amounts of fentanyl and crystal meth, as well as other drugs, with a total street value of more than $1 million.
The investigation began in October by the OPP's Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau into the trafficking of fentanyl, crystal methamphetamine, hydromorphone and cocaine in Kenora and the surrounding area.
Following a related arrest, police obtained a search warrant and raided a residence Nov. 19 in Pellatt Township.
Police said it was "rented on a short-term basis by one of the accused."
Police seized drugs suspected to be 962 grams of suspected fentanyl, 1.2 kilograms of crystal meth, 287 grams of cocaine, 968 hydromorphone tablets and three grams of crack cocaine.
Also seized was a rifle, two digital scales and $4,060 in cash.
"The estimated street value of the drugs seized is $1,072,000," police said in a news release Tuesday.

Charged are a 25-year-old from Edmonton and a 20-year-old from Westbank, B.C. Both are charged with numerous drug trafficking and weapons offences.
Both accused were remanded into custody ahead of an appearance in the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora.
