North Bay couple wins $100K in Ontario 49
A married couple from North Bay has cashed in by playing an add-on game in a recent Ontario 49 lottery draw.
Rejean and Wendy Gagnon have been married for 31 years and are regular lottery players who "always add Encore," Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation said in a news release.
So when they matched the last six of seven Encore numbers in the exact order in the March 12 draw, they won $100,000.
It is the couple's first big win, OLG said.
When checking the numbers on her lottery ticket, Wendy said she thought they had won $1,000, but it turned out to be much, much more.
"When I showed the phone to Rejean he thought I was kidding," she said.
The Gagnons told OLG they plan to use the money to pay some bills, travel and share with their kids.
"We'll celebrate with a trip and have fun deciding where to go," she said.
Their winning ticket was purchased at the Esso on the Run store on Algonquin Avenue in North Bay.
