Museum to display never-before-seen pics of the Dionne quintuplets
To commemorate their birthday, the Callander Museum is displaying previously unseen photos of the Dionne quintuplets this weekend.
The event runs May 25 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the museum, on Lansdowne Street East in the community.
“The occasion marks not only the birth of five remarkable sisters but also serves as a testament to the miracle of their survival and the enduring legacy they left behind,” the museum said in a news release Thursday.
Born on May 28, 1934, in nearby Corbeil, the Dionne Quintuplets captured the world's attention and became a symbol of hope during a challenging time.
“Their birth was considered a medical marvel, and their upbringing garnered widespread public interest, both in Canada and internationally,” the release said.
The May 25 event will feature unique photographs not seen by the public before, a presentation, cupcakes, and welcoming from some Dionne family members, who will be on site in the afternoon.

"We are privileged to honor the legacy of the Dionne quintuplets and recognize the important miracle that their birth represented," Natasha Wiatr, curator of the commemoration event, is quoted as saying in the release.
"Their story serves as a reminder of resilience, hope, and the importance of allowing children to be children rather than being used for commercial gain".
