SUDBURY -- Sudbury's Cambrian College has confirmed more positive COVID-19 cases following a major spike in new cases in the city.
"We have been advised by Public Health Sudbury & Districts (PHSD) that members of the Cambrian community have tested positive for COVID-19," said Bill Best, the school's president, in a statement.
"These members of our community are currently self-isolating. We wish them a full and quick recovery and are supporting them in any way we can."
Dan Lessard, Cambrian's communication manager, told CTV News the health unit did not disclose the number of cases to the school.
"We have been told by public health it involves more than one person, but we do not know officially how many as this is an evolving investigation on their part," said Lessard.
It is still unknown whether the individuals have been on campus recently or not.
"Public health has shared with us that there is no evidence of transmission on campus and there are no additional public health measures required beyond what we already have in place. Public Health has also advised us that there is no outbreak on campus," said Best. "We are cooperating fully with PHSD in its ongoing investigation. There is a legal obligation to protect the privacy and health information of the individuals involved, and as such we are not able to share further information at this time."
This after a Nov. 4 statement saying a person that has not been on campus this semester tested positive for the disease.
"The campus remains open for those who must be on-site for labs and other hands-on learning, and those sessions are continuing as scheduled," said Best.
There have been 17 new positive cases of COVID-19 confirmed in Greater Sudbury since Halloween on Saturday, with a total of 18 active cases currently in the city.
CTV News has reached out to Public Health Sudbury & Districts for comment, but has not yet received a response.
