Sault man charged with assault after allegedly throwing hypodermic needle

A 38-year-old man has been charged with assault with a weapon following a confrontation between neighbours on Tuesday in Sault Ste. Marie.

About 3:50 p.m., a 911 call came in and police were dispatched to deal with an incident outside a multi-unit residence building in the 100 block of Wellington Street East.

“An investigation revealed the accused had thrown a hypodermic needle at a victim from an upstairs window after an argument,” Sault police said in a news release Wednesday.

The victim was not injured in the altercation.

Police arrested the suspect at the scene and he was charged with assault with a weapon

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 9.

None of the accusations has been proven in court.
