Anger among Francophones is growing in response to Premier Doug Ford cancelling some French language services.

Thursday, students at a northern Ontario high school staged a protest.

Approximately 200 students from Cité des Jeunes, a French Catholic high school in Kapuskasing walked out about 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon.

It was a demonstration against the premier cancelling plans for a new French university in Ontario and eliminating the provincial French language services commissioner position.

Students braved the cold for just under an hour, singing and chanting slogans about their Francophone heritage before returning to class.

A public rally is being organized Saturday, December 1st at 1 pm at NDP MPP Guy Bourgouin's office.

Bourgouin is the Francophone Affairs Critice for the NDP.
