Hwy. 17 reopens after being closed due to bad weather

Share

Highway 17 has reopened after poor weather conditions closed part of the road way Saturday morning for almost two hours.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) had closed the highway between Wawa and Batchawana Bay due to poor driving conditions.

“Highway 17 between Wawa and Batchawana Bay … closed due to poor weather and driving conditions,” said the OPP, in a tweet.

All winter storm warnings, watches and special weather statements have been lifted in the area.

Police said motorists can obtain up-to-date road conditions by calling 511 or at 511on.ca.

The Ministry of Transportation’s 511 Traveller Information Service indicates the road closure began before 9:30 a.m. and reopened about 11:15 a.m.
