A group from a community in the east end of Greater Sudbury is honouring its heritage with special signage in an effort to improve the existing streetscape.
The small community of Coniston was settled in the early 1900’s as a farming area.
In a Coniston Historical Group project several years in the making, historical banners were installed Friday along Second Avenue in Coniston, the main street of the neighbourhood.
The banners feature historical photographs from the community’s past and were each sponsored by a different group within the town.
Four of the banners feature NHL Players from the past that were either born or raised in Coniston. The banners feature Jim Fox, Noel Price, Randy Boyd, and Toe Blake and are situated by the memorial arena of the latter.
