SUDBURY -- A 'Go Fund Me' account set up to help the family that lost three young children in a New Year's Day crash outside of Sudbury has now reached over $25K.
Destiny, Flourish, and Brittney Osagie were all members of the same Nigerian family living in the community of Chelmsford, and had been travelling back from Toronto that morning, when the single-vehicle crash took place near Lively.
Local business owner Chantelle Goreham, of Levack, started the Go Fund Me campaign, saying she couldn’t imagine the agony of losing three kids.
Go Fund Me page volunteer, Cindy Babcock, says community response has been incredible.
"On behalf of the Osagie family and Chantal Gorham, who implemented this Go Fund Me page, we all just want to thank this Sudbury area, the people here are fantastic," said Babcock. “They have hearts of gold, and also the Nigerian community. And there's been so many donations from the U.S. and Canada, it’s just been so heart-warming."
The goal for the fundraiser was to raise $10K; and as of Jan. 10, the fund reached $27K.
Money raised is going to help the Osagie family. as well as members of another family that was with them at the time of the crash.
Police say the child from the other family that survived the crash remains in hospital with serious injuries, but is listed as stable.
