Fatal crash closes Hwy 11 in northern Ontario Thursday

SUDBURY -- Ontario Provincial Police say a fatal crash has resulted in the closure of Highway 11 between Highways 101 and 66 on Thursday .
Police say it happened around 10:17 a.m. Feb. 27 in Benoit Township.
They say one person died as a result of a multi-vehicle collision.
The road was closed in both directions from Matheson to Kenogami Lake until 2 a.m. Friday.
A transport driver tells CTV News they were stranded on the closed highway with many other vehicles without food and other necessities, like washrooms.
OPP says no detours were set up.
Officials are urging people to avoid unnecessary travel as driving conditions are deteriorating due to the snowstorm.
Police also say Hwy 11 from North Bay to Kapuskasing and Hwy 101 from Timmins to the Quebec border are closed Thursday due to weather.
