Police in Timmins and the provincial fire marshal's office are looking into an early morning blaze.
It was at the Good Samaritan Inn, a homeless shelter in South Porcupine.
Eye witnesses say the fire broke out around 3:45 Wednesday morning, and that residents got themselves out, although two people were taken to hospital.
Nearby Golden Avenue Public School closed Wednesday, as power in the area needed to be turned off while firefighters were on scene.
“Streets are closed for a few hours. We have firefighters on scene; we have around 45 firefighters on scene. We have five stations, so it's a large incident for Timmins.” said Timmins Fire Chief Normand Beauchamp.
At the hospital, one person was treated for burns, the other for smoke inhalation.
Other residents of the shelter were taken to the Senator Hotel and the Red Cross will be paying for their stay temporarily.
