Another impaired driver stopped on Hwy. 11, police say

A 30-year-old northern Ontario woman has been charged with impaired driving following a traffic stop on Highway 11 last month.

On June 22 at about 7:30 p.m., members of the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle officers observed swerving on Highway 11, west of Cochrane, Ont., police said in a news release.

“Upon speaking with the driver, police determined that the driver had been consuming an alcohol beverage,” said police.

“The driver was arrested and transported to the Kapuskasing detachment for further testing.”

As a result of the investigation, the 30-year-old female driver from Cochrane, Ont., faces two impaired driving charges.

The vehicle involved was impounded for seven days by police and the accused also received a 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear in court on July 9.

None of the allegations has been proven in court.

“Stay safe and report suspected impaired drivers,” said police in a related social media post.
