911 hang-up leads North Bay police to $130K in drugs inside hotel room

A 911 hang-up call leads police to a North Bay hotel room resulting in the seizure of $130,000 in drugs and one man being charged.

Officers with the North Bay Police Service were sent to a hotel on McIntyre Street West on Nov. 9 after an emergency call was disconnected, police said in a news release Friday.

"As part of the investigation, police searched a room in the hotel in which the accused was located. While in the room, police observed evidence of drug trafficking," police said.

"A search warrant was applied for, granted, and executed."

Around 373 grams of suspected fentanyl, 175 grams of suspected cocaine and 20 five mg suspected Percocet pills were seized along with $2,500 cash and drug trafficking equipment.

As a result, a 19-year-old local man is charged with three counts of drug trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime.

The suspect was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
