The stick of Kasperi Kapanen sent Leafs nation into a frenzy, tying the series between Toronto and Washington on Saturday night, but it was another type of stick that lit the viral wick.
Jason Maslakow, better known to many as dart guy (dart is, of course, another name for cigarette) is all over the web.
His face is being used in memes; from replacing former Prime Minister Sir Wilfred Laurier on the five dollar bill, to a legendary photograph of Mohammed Ali and even Sudbury's iconic big nickel.
The 37-year-old was born and raised in Sudbury and now lives and works in Waterloo. Maslakow is still in disbelief over all the attention.
“To feel this kind of connection, this closeness to Leafs nation, the fan base and organization itself, it has been an absolute dream,” said Maslakow.
“It almost feels like a reward for a lifelong loyalty.”
A huge thank you to @MapleLeafs for the tickets to the game tomorrow!!! See you there and GO LEAFS GO! #Dartguy

Maslakow is seeing his social media blow up, as well. He had around 20 followers on Twitter Saturday morning, and now it's well into the thousands.
Back in Sudbury, his friend Shayne Malone is enjoying how the 'dart guy' whom he knows as Jason, is all over the web.
“If anybody is more of a Leafs fan than I am, it would be Jason, so it couldn't have happened to a greater guy,” said Malone.
As far as the now famous cigarette in Maslakow's mouth; it's un-lit.
He attends Leafs games several times a year and went to the cigarette to help relieve the stress.
