SUDBURY -- A 19-year-old man has died as a result of a single-vehicle crash in Azilda, Greater Sudbury Police confirmed Wednesday.
Police received a call just after 2:30 a.m. Wednesday about a collision on MR35 near Gagnon Street in Azilda, a community in Greater Sudbury.
Police said a 2005 Silver Infinity G35 was travelling north when the vehicle left the roadway and ended up in the ditch.
As a result of the crash, the 19-year-old driver and a 21-year-old woman were taken to hospital. The driver later succumbed to his injuries.
His name will not be released at the request of the family.
The female passenger remains in hospital with serious injuries.
The road was closed for much of the morning as police investigated the fatal accident.
One lane of MR35 in each direction was reopened about 9:15 a.m., but officers remain at the site.
No word yet on the cause of the crash.
