SAULT STE. MARIE -- Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma Region Response Hub is helping people find out where essential services are located in their community.
At the request of Algoma Public Health, the Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre created a one-stop website to help people find out what essential businesses are open in the region.
"Where primary care facilities, banks, grocery stores, businesses that are considered to be essential services can have all of their information, changes to hours, anything like that located in one spot," said Lori McDonald with the innovation centre.
It took one week to build the website and after only being live for three days a couple of thousand people have already visited the site McDonald says.
The City of Sault Ste. Marie also partnered with the innovation centre to help collect the information.
"It’s important that there’s a resource that people can go to to get the information they need," said Sault Ste. Marie Mayor Christian Provenzano. "That's one of the things we are focused on right now, is information is important, and we’re trying to make sure people in our community can access it easily."
