SUDBURY -- The man who was stabbed in downtown Sudbury on Wednesday afternoon has died, Greater Sudbury Police said Thursday.
Police are now looking for Douglas Jeffries, 32, the suspect in the case who is wanted for second-degree murder.
Detectives have an arrest warrant for Jeffries, and released a photo of him in hopes it will help lead to his capture.
The victim in the case "tragically succumbed to his injuries this afternoon," police said.
"Anyone with information related to the whereabouts of Douglas Jeffries is asked to contact us at 705-675-9171."
Greater Sudbury Police said they received the call just before 1:50 p.m. Wednesday regarding a serious assault near the Cash Money on Elm Street downtown.
Matt Brown, a radio host with Pure Country Radio, works in the building next to where the incident took place.
"I looked out and I saw a bunch of people surrounding a gentleman who was bleeding from the side of the head, pretty substantially," Brown told CTV News report Alana Everson. "And then they got him to sit down, and people were kind of holding him there for a while, and soon after ambulance and police showed up."
